Born in Paris, Serero studied jazz piano at the American School of Modern Music and at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris. He graduated from both of these schools as a pianist and arranger. He lived in New York from 2001 to 2003, where he studied singing with teachers from Broadway and from the Metropolitan Opera and studied acting at the H.B Studio where he played Stanley from A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, Uncle Louie from Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon and Marc Anthony from Julius Caesar by Shakespeare. Serero moved to St Petersburg, Russia, to study at the Rimsky Korsakov Music Conservatory where he made his debut as Scarpia ''(Tosca)'' and Germont ''(La Traviata''). Following these performances, he was invited by Valery Gergiev to be part of the Young Singers Academy of the Mariinsky Theater.
